My Etsy Shop is now open!

OK I finally got my act together and put my original prints on Etsy to sell.... I'm starting with my line of modern dog breed silhouettes, which I really love... These 8 1/2 x 11 prints will look great anywhere.  I'm a pugaholic and I collect pug prints where ever I go!  Unfortunately, I did not do a pug because this series is all about the profile and well, what pugs lack in profile they have in character!...let me know what you think....I will be adding new breeds soon, let me know which ones are your favorite!....

I have always admired the 18th century paper cut silhouette techniques and I thought it would be a great challenge to create a modern version.  I wanted it to have a smidgen of bold color amidst a very graphic and strong profile.  I recommend you matte it and frame it in white to accentuate the contrast even more.  These will look great on there own or in an arrangement.

I also have a line of dog breeds in architectural settings which I am working on...right now I have a Chihuahua floating on a Barragan pool.... and a pug one in the works so stay tuned!

If you would like to see more of my artwork go to the insider art co.  I am fortunate to have Factory Agencies rep my work commercially.  To see more of my Etsy shop go to my Etsy Shop Link !

I also have permanent links on the right side of my blog under link me baby.

Art by design

I am always at artists and designers who find beauty in the ordinary and in some cases the annoying....Case in point, Long cords....

This cord wraps artfully to create a wonderful wall detail.

The Dayglow's

S. Harris (from top left going clockwise) Razzle Dazzle in Shocking and lemongrass,
Casino Stripe in Full Moon and Loft Stripe in Plumbush
The Fluorescents are here! The Fluorescents are here!...ok maybe my recent bout with horrendous migraines and over the top allergies has made me a little Koo Koo for Coco puffs but these new fabrics by S. Harris gave me a reason NOT to hate spring... beautiful taupes and beige grounds jolted by the brightest of neon pinks, oranges and yellows and woven together in such beautiful harmony that I almost forget they are florescent.  Sophisticated and bold and oh so fun!....How amazing would it be to upholster a wingback chair in a strip back and floral front with accented stripe pillow!.....any takers?

The fabric shown above is available to trade only. Contact me to purchase!

Public Decor: from Cows to Thrones

Remember the slew of painted cows around Chicago in the 90"s?....This is better!  The recent promotional ads for the Art Institute of Chicago's latest exhibit... 50 French Throne appliques on various seats on the CTA's red line have been installed so that patrons can take photos, put them on the Art Institute's facebook page and win "The Royal Treatment" which is a private tour of the exhibition, a nights stay at the Palmer House Hilton and the collection book in hardcover.

A fun and interactive way to get Chicagoans interested in what's going on at the Art Institute and to make the EL a bit more "decorated" See some examples of work that will be shown at the exhibit below.  A stunning period of art that was influenced heavily by the Italian renaissance.  You will see both the sacred and the secular with all of its gothic exuberance!

Monday design pick me up

Today I woke up to another rainy Chicago Monday thinking I would share with you my great experience at last Thursdays Merchandise Mart function on the 15th floor.... and in the process show off a really cool henna tattoo that I received at the Michaelian & Kohlberg Showroom, courtesy of Aurora Mehndi.....but then a link from my daughter changed my plans...

Bad Table

Little Black Dresser

Beaver Cabinet

Burnt Table

Canned Bench

Boom Cabinet

Accordian
I thought what better to pick me up and make me smile on such a blah day than the animated furniture design of Straight Line Designs!  Designer Judson Beaumont and his creative craftspeople hail out of Vancouver, British Columbia and have been creating furniture for 25 years.  Amazingly inventive, though provoking and well, just fun.... Enjoy!
